K E D U - THE STORY
KEDU is a greeting, a way of saying "hello" in the Igbo dialect from Nigeria, West Africa.
We are passionate about exploring food in all contexts; as life-sustaining fuel, as an art and as a culture-merging medium. We also love teaching and serving fresh sustainable meals, and with our cookery school and chef training programs, we aim to give young/aspiring chefs a chance to acquire skills and knowledge without going through some of the hardships faced by aspiring chefs in the food industry. Our story begins with what our head chef Akudo had to say about chef life in today's industry...
"Chef life is much more than cooking and serving, there is a personal aspect to it that really tells a story or brings one to life, whether is a recreation of a nostalgic dish, or an interpretation of a different culture's dish or even bringing a customer's menu to life, food can be a way to express so much"
The Brand was created not just for great dishes, but also to help train chefs, offer support and consultancy to chefs running their own business(es). KEDU provides support from an idea and product conception to the final stages and day-to-day business operation.
During our head chef's training days as a chef, sustainable foods, sustainable cooking and promoting sustainability within the community were values that were promoted, and so the cookery side of KEDU was developed, to teach sustainability in the community through food.
In a way, you could say we are a community project, so let's all work together, come and say "hello".
